Flexible timings

While it is still possible to add first and second timing markers to a score by 'dropping' them on from the Structure toolbar, there is a new way which allows markers to be added to smaller groups down to a as small as a single note. It will also allow more compact timing structures (e.g. 2 of 2, 2 of 4) to be used. This allows more BWW tunes to be imported with correct timings.
This method is described next.

Method

The simple procedure is as follows:
  1. Open the Structure toolbar in the right editing pane,
  2. Select the note(s) to put the marker over with the mouse,
  3. Press the required timing marker button (, ) on the Structure toolbar.

The marker should appear over the required note(s).

Removing a marker is the same as for standard timings - you have to select the notes under the marker and press the appropriate toolbar button to see the pop-up:

Second timing pop-up.

When the pop-up window appears, press the Remove button and the marker should be deleted.

2 of 2 and 2 of 4

If you enter 2 or 4 in the Other parts box in the second timing pop-up screen (shown above), the marker will show either '2 of 2' or 2 of 4' at the start of the bracket, respectively. To produce a marker with '2 of 2 & 4', enter 24 in this field.
The Other Parts field is so named because the timing now applies to other part(s), rather than the part the timing marker appears on. This is a common feature in imported BWW scores.

NB: Only 2 of 2, 2 of 4 and 2 of 2 & 4 are currently supported.

As mentioned previously, this pop-up will appear if you select the notes under the marker and press the 2nd timing button on the Structure toolbar.
So the procedure here is:
  1. Create the marker (using procedure detailed above),
  2. with the notes selected, press the same button again to see the pop-up window,
  3. enter the required value in the Other parts field and press Ok.
