Description
General
- Note value checker: this option also appears as a toolbar button. It is described here.
- Auto Scroll on playback: check this to ask program to scroll notes into view during playback. Switch off if this annoys you.
- Auto Beam notes: check this to allow notes to be beamed automatically when dropping notes on to the stave. The time signature is used to work out where the next beam should start. This can be useful when adding lots of notes of the same type on to the score. It can also be annoying, if you need to do lots of things like dotting notes, modifying their values etc. If you don't like it, turn it off!
- Indicate notes on playback: this controls the moving indicator bar during plyback. If you find this distracting and you don't want to see the notes indicated when the sound is playing, uncheck this item.
- Language: the language CelticPipes displays on all of its screens can be selected here if necessary. By default, Auto us used which indicates the software sets the language to match your computer's current region and language settings. If you want to override this, select one of the other options in the list.
(Languages are: EN = english, DE = german and FR = french ).
Sound
- Use custom soundbank: when this is checked (recommended) real sound samples will be used, otherwise, default MIDI sounds will be used.
- Play note drop tone: check this to hear a sound when dropping notes on from the toolbar, or when moving notes in the pitch direction. Not
available for percusson instruments!
- Extend final note: when this is checked, the very last note in the score will be extended in duration by a second or two during playback. There is no change to the note value displayed.
- Play starting E note: (for bagpipe only) check this item to play an introductory E note before the rest of the tune is played.
Display
- Page numbers: this item controls whether or not to show
page numbers at the foot of the printed page.
- BPM on score: if checked, the tempo will appear on the score on the screen and on the printed document.
- Text on tabs: The text shown at the top of a tab can be either "Tune title" (default) or "File name" (as used by v2.1).
- Stave line weight: allows the thickness of the stave lines to be specified. This is mainly required (and apparent) when printing. The settings are as follows:-
setting 1 - means use the smallest possible line size (1 pixel on screen = 1 dot on printer)
setting 2 - gives a good thin line size on screen and printer
setting 3 - gives a thicker line on the printer (this may only be apparent on-screen if zoom is set to 200%)
- Show bar numbers: this setting allows numbers to appear beside each bar/measure in a tune. The options in the list box control where they appear i.e.:
None - switches off bar numbering
Above - numbers appear above each bar
Below - numbers appear below each bar
Import
- Switch to Landscape: some scores import with a lot of bars on each line. When they import into a score which is layed out in portrait orientation, there is not enough room for all the notes and they tend to overlap each other and barlines. Switching to Landscape orientation on import usually overcomes this problem.
