Adding Text & Images
Text or images may be added to
any bar or measure in a score, but the score must first be put in Annotation Mode. This is done by pressing the Annotation button
which is on the Main Toolbar.
When the button is pressed, the editing toolbars will be disabled and each measure in the score will be outlined with a green border. The cursor will change to an I-beam indicating something will be inserted. The button will be latched in until it is pressed to exit Annotation Mode.
To add text, click inside any green rectangle on the score and the following screen will appear. Note:
the click position is the anchor to which text or an image will be
aligned.
Either type in the required text or browse for a picture to insert.
All of the operations described below will only work if the score is still in Annotation Mode.
Inserting text
To enter text, simply type in the box.
The font, text size and text colour may be changed by pressing the F button on the left to bring up the Font Properties Dialog.
A border may be placed around the text by selecting the size of the border (in pixels) from the listbox. The default is zero (no border) so select something higher to show the border. The colour of the border may be changed by pressing the Font colour button (second from the left) and selecting a colour from the list.
To preview what the results may look like before pressing OK, press the button with the eye on it. You man need to move the annotation screen to the right or left to see the results.
Press OK to apply the new annotation to the score or Cancel to abort the process.
Inserting a picture
Most common picture formats e.g. gif, png, jpeg, bmp are supported.
To enter a picture, press the picture browse button and select the file to insert. If there are no problems with the file, the picture will appear in the window at the top of the screen (it may be clipped to fit).

The colour of the border may be changed by pressing the border colour button (fourth from he left) and selecting the desired colour from the list.
To preview what the results may look like before pressing OK, press the button with the eye on it. You may need to move the annotation screen to the right or left to see the results.
Press OK to apply the new annotation to the score or Cancel to abort the process.
NB: All images used in annotation are stored embedded into the .cepx file.
Moving an annotation
To move an existing annotation, make sure the Annotation button is depressed on the toolbar to get into Annotation mode. Then (single) click on the annotation and keep the primary mouse button depressed. The cursor will turn into a hand shape. Then you can drag the annotation to wherever you want on the score.
Modifying the contents of an inserted annotation
An existing annotation (either text or picture) may be modified by double-clicking on it, when in Annotation mode.. If your double-click is accurate, the annotation will appear in the Annotation window. You can then modify or overwrite it as before. Tip: if you find it difficult to double-click to select an annotation, increase the Zoom factor to 150% or 200% to make the selection area bigger. This should make it a lot easier to select small annotations.
Removing inserted annotation
To remove an annotation, click on it as if you were going to modify it (see above) and press the Delete button (red cross). Now press OK.
NB:
When done, you need to exit Annotation Mode (by pressing on the
Annotation toolbar button) before the editing toolbars will become
re-enabled.
