Import
and Export
Importing
To
Import a file, select Import... from either the Welcome
screen or from the File menu.
If you are having any Import problems, please be sure to read the CelticPipes Release Notes before contacting support.
As the picture shows, there is a single screen that allows you to browse for and import any of the supported file formats.
Select the file and press Open. If the import is successful, the tab will display a 'guess' at the file name (derived from its title) - along with a star symbol to indicate the file hasn't yet been saved. The star will disappear and the name will appear correctly once you have saved the file.
Note: if any errors are
encountered during import, the software will do its best to recover.
However, some files in the public domain especially, may be so badly
formatted or they don't conform to any specific standard that the
import may fail completely! When this happens, an error message will be
displayed.
If you are having any Import
problems, please be sure to read the CelticPipes
Release Notes before contacting support.
ABC Import note: This version of CelticPipes only currently supports the official ABC v1.6 release. It does, however, try to do its best to handle slight variations to this. Tip: if you are having
problems importing, make sure the file conforms to the correct standard
and that it makes complete musical sense. Simplify the contents of the
file to the basic tune if possible and try again. (NB: PiobMaster ABC
does NOT conform to this standard - we advise importing .PIO files where possible).
Exporting
The full range of export options appear separately on the Export menu item which is accessible from the main File menu.
When one of the export options is selected, a window will open asking for the name of the file to export to. Browse to the destination folder and enter the filename to save the file.
NB: When exporting to an image file, the full file name with extension (e.g. newfile.png, not just newfile) needs to be supplied to tell the file browser what format to export to. If this isn't supplied, the first image format which appears in the list (i.e. .png) will be chosen automatically.
Also, if you are exporting an image file: after you have selected your save location for the image file, and pressed Save, you will see an Image size window pop up:
The displayed options allow you to select from Small, Medium and Large. small produces an image 700 pixels wide, medium will be 1024 pixels wide and large (if there is enough memory) will be 2048 pixels wide.
Select uour option and press Ok. When writing is complete, your image file should appear in the seelected location.
If you are having any Export
problems, please be sure to read the CelticPipes
Release Notes and online Support Notes before contacting support.
