Overview
CelticPipes can handle a wide range of files allowing it access to thousands of existing musical scores on the Internet.
In addition to its own native file formats (.cep and .cepx), CelticPipes can load BMW and BMW Gold files, ABC text files and on Windows, .PIO and .DSB files.
When a score is created, opened or imported, it appears in CelticPipes in its own tab with the. The currrently active tab will be indicated by a red dot beside the text.
The Title of the music in the loaded file is shown on the tab. If a file has been modified and not saved, a star will appear to the left of the name as shown.
Similarly for files which have been imported but not saved.
If you have not given it a title when creating it, it may just say "Untitled". A proper title can be set using the Titles & Footer screen.
Tip: To see the location of the file that is loaded, hover the mouse over the tab and a popup tooltip will appear with the full system path and name of the file.
Bars and notes can be copied between tabs using Copy and Bar Copy.
It can store the contents of each tab either by saving it (cepx format) or by exporting it to one of the above musical formats, or by exporting it
to an image file. The music can also be saved as MIDI so it can be played back by other MIDI-compatible software later.
The location of music files on your disk is completely up to the user. CelticPipes does not care where you store them but it tries to remember where that is from one session to the next. Just make sure you don't try to save
them to a restricted directory (e.g. under '/Program Files' on Windows) as the save operation can fail silently without CelticPipes being told! It's always best to make a folder somewhere under your own /User folder and keep that for your music.
Then you will be able to use the Music explorer (file list pane) as an explorer window into your music files.
