Main Toolbar Buttons
The toolbar is divided into sections.
File section
The first section relates mostly to file operations i.e.
The buttons are new file, open file, save file and print file respectively.
Pressing the print button will bring up the Print Options screen so that the active score can be printed.
Tools section
The next section contains some useful tools:
The tool buttons are, in order:
-
Undo - reverts changes made in a score.
Note: there are up to 11 levels of Undo available.
-
Note spacing
When you left-click the Note spacing button,
the current note spacing scheme is applied to the score so that the notes in the bar will be re-spaced. The default scheme is Even spacing. All the notes in the bar will be re-spaced as evenly as possible (allowing for gracenotes, embellshments etc.). The current spacing scheme may be changed either by right-clicking on this button, or by going to Tools->Note Spacing.
Information on the available spacing schemes is described elsewhere.
-
Auto-checking note values in a score,
-
Annotation - Adding text and images anywhere on the score,
-
Colouring notes - change the colour of one or more note heads.
Page navigation section

If the score contains more than one page, the second page will be
displayed by pressing the right arrow. The page number should change to
"Page 2" etc. depending on how many pages there are in the document. To
get back to the previous page, press the left arrow.
Pane visibility section
The last section provides buttons to toggle visibility of the three panes. The visibility of the panes can be turned off and on to give more space on the screen e.g. when editing.
This is done via the three toolbar buttons at the top-centre of the screen.
Press a button to toggle the visibility of a pane. The blue area on a button indicates the location of the pane on the screen.
All the other toolbars used by the program in the various panes i.e. Basic (for adding
notes), Embellishment,
Structure
and Dynamics,
are described later, where they are used, in the relevant sections of
this help file.
